A basic introduction to memetic magick

This image has been effectively used by me against Satan Hunters who promote narratives of Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) which offers a positive relationship of a child with Satanism, this challenges and shakes their mind map narratives, they find these attacks upsetting and uncomfortable.  In of itself this memetic attack has limited impact, but as part of an overall campaign where you want a Satan Hunter to do or say something that destroys them or their message in the eyes of other people, they are powerful attacks.

There are many different ideas about memetic magick, here I offer my own.

I consider that memetic magick is a branch of mentalism, the discipline which Derren Brown practices.  I also consider that memetic magick is aligned to the ideas of magician  Alan Moore the creator of the stories such as V for Vendetta,  who considers magick as art.

Influence of memetic magick

Memetic magick can influence how the individual thinks, feels and acts; can influence how others react and treat the individual; or controversially what events happen to the individual, for instance if the individual believes a pigeon will shit on them tomorrow, they might suffer a metaphorical or actual experience tomorrow of being shit upon.

The focus of memetic magic is the human mind

The place of action of memetic magick is in the minds of the individual or of other people.  Memetic magick is scientifically sound, those who wish to practice memetic magick will find the study of how the brain and mind works helpful to the application of this skill.

The memetic magician works with mind maps

The individual deals with self, the world and their place in their world via a map in their brain.  As an example, when light hits the eye, electrical signals are sent to parts of the brain to process and then throw up an understandable image of what is being sensed, if the image is useful, it is added to existing images in memory, or a new memory is created.  Incoming data is usually incomplete, so the brain attempts to fill in blanks to make a complete image.  All images in the brain become a map, and at all times the individual is working with this map rather than with what is outside of the brain.  The memetic magician is working with these mind maps.

On mind maps and body image

Body image in self is due to a mind map.  If an individual suffers loss of limb, the mind map may cause the the individual to believe the limb is still present, they suffer a condition known as phantom limb syndrome.  Those who identify as transsexual have a mind map that has a different gender to that which they physically have.  Some individuals suffer a fault in their image map so that they believe a limb does not belong to them, or belongs to someone else, this experience causes the victim great distress, which doctors sometimes alleviate by amputating a healthy limb.

Motivation coaches uses memetic magic to change attitudes

Positive thinking coaches work with mind maps by attempting to persuade individuals that they can change their mind maps, and hence their attitudes and lives.  Sean Stephenson is a motivational coach who invites people to change their mind maps, in a video he teaches prisoners that prison is only a state of mind.

Mind maps impact how individuals see others

The mind maps of individuals impacts how they see other people. The mind maps of many causes them to only see Hitler in purely negative terms, they will ignore some of Hitler’s positive contributions such as his passion for animal rights.  The individual can observe their own selective biases due to their mind maps, seeing only the positive in those they like, and the negative aspects of those they dislike.

Mind maps as paradigms that hold back progress

Groups of people can be caught in a group mind map, a paradigm, that can hold back scientific progress.  Ignaz Semmelweis suggested that death rates would fall if doctors washed their hands, a challenge to a paradigm of the time which resulted in him being sectioned in a mental hospital.  Artificial intelligence is obsessed with AI that replicates a human being, ignoring the possibilities that plant AI can bring.  Everyone is obsessed with the internet of things, a paradigm that in its current form will end in failure for many due to security and complexity issues.

My use of memetic magick against Satan Hunters who promote SRA

I use memetic magick against Satan Hunters who promote Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) narratives.  The mind map of a Satan Hunter describes a world that is ruled by Satanists who harm children.  Appeals to reason or emotion, nor any threat will stop a Satan Hunter believing and acting upon their SRA narratives.  A Satan Hunter however is vulnerable to memetic attacks on their mind maps, rather like an individual can hack into the software of a computer system.  I can deliver to the Satan Hunter experiences, images and video that shows Satanists caring for children, or children adopting Satanism, or the Satan Hunter as a clown or monster, all that are contrary to their mind maps.  The Satan Hunter have strong reactions to these type of attacks in which they feel uncomfortable, their mind maps shaken, they might obsessively pursue a campaign against me, or against Satanism, or block me.  I can in a positive way deploy images to motivate and enhance the mind maps of those that fight SRA, and some images I have created for Hoaxtead are being used by them.

Memetic magick can be used with animals

By studying how the brains work of different animals I can manipulate and enhance their experiences in situations, for instance I tap on a thing rather than point to it if I want to draw the attention of a cat to a thing.

Business uses memetic magick

Advertising, marketing and branding are forms of memetic magick I successfully use in my business.

Memetic magick can be used with other forms of magick

If the individual believes that the human mind can influence events in nature, then memetic magick can be effectively used with other forms of magick.

Goals against enslaving distractions

People selling me things harassed me all day yesterday: e-mails; stopped in the street; mail; phone calls.  The selling ranged from religion to boiler replacement, which is a tiny fraction of the daily noise that bombard the individual Satanist demanding their time, energy and money.  Personal space is randomly and frequently invaded by the salespeople of unwanted junk.

Once the Satanist has defined their important goals, then with discipline focused their attention upon those goals, an invisible filter comes into existence as a barrier to the distractions demanding slavery to others gain at the expense of self.

The Satanist and personal benefit

At the core of the choices and actions of human individuals is the idea they benefit in some way from it.  The individual Satanist takes the idea of personal benefit to a new level, we are ultimately selfish individuals, or why would we be Satanists?

The story of Bronze and Iron metalworking
Bronze is a durable harder quality of metal than iron, yet why did the world choose iron over bronze, bringing about a new age called the Iron Age that replaced the Bronze Age? The reason is that bronze is harder to obtain and manufacture, whilst iron is common and simpler, offering the same benefits as bronze in tool making despite its inferior quality.  Thus in the story of human progress the idea, innovation or tool that offers the most benefit to the individual is adopted by the individual or group.  When Henry Ford asked customers what they wanted, they said a faster horse, Ford then created a motorized version of a horse called the automobile, and thus the horse quickly became redundant as a tool of transport.

Offer an idea, make it useful
Memes, a fashionable term for ideas, is the current vogue amongst some Satanists.  The Satanist wishing to influence their target market throws out into the world their memes hoping that the rest of us will be infected and thus come under the influence of their ideas.  Most of these meme-obsessed mind manipulators forget that unless an idea is beneficial to its target audience, it is rejected and dies; think bronze against iron, or horse against automobile.  Let me offer three examples of a regular set of memes these mind-manipulators use that are doomed to failure:

1. Idea/meme: all Satanists should join a gang.
FAIL: The Satanist is at their core an individual; there is no personal benefit in joining a gang, which is no different from joining the Mormons, and results in the outcome of conforming slavery to a group.

2. Idea/meme: all Satanists in a gang must give unquestioning loyalty to the gang.
FAIL: The Satanist questions everything and places no master but themselves in their own lives.  There is no personal benefit.

3. Idea/meme: the Satanist must destroy the State and its institutions.
FAIL: Satanists are not altruistic freedom fighters, there is no benefit in bringing down a system that can be more fruitfully manipulated for personal benefit.  The Wall Street banker does more damage to society whilst becoming wealthy than the deluded terrorist who languishes on death row for killing people whilst blowing up a bank.

Offer a benefit, change the world; offer a liability, enjoy oblivion.

Satanic Public Relations

One of the irritating experiences of being a Satanist is my constant exposure to ignorant Christian and media propaganda that portray Satanists as mentally unstable child abusing human sacrificing nazi devil worshipers.  When those rare moments arise when Satanists organise publicity stunts that show Satanism in a different light, I raise my hat to those Satanists, and would buy them a beer if ever I meet them.

Satanic activists at the Satanic Temple led by Lucien Greaves have creatively excelled in the art form of public relations that puts Satanism in a fun positive light, different from the usual negativity that the media portray of Satanism.  I would like to see a new generation of Satanists emerge that portray the individual Satanist as intelligent, witty, fun-loving and rebellious.  How great it would be Satanists turning their creative energies from infighting to becoming like Lucien Greaves, indulging in clever public relations.

Satanic Temple recently made it to Time magazine in relation to their latest PR stunt, a call for a Satanic monument to sit alongside the Ten Commandments on the lawn of the Oklahoma State Capitol.

There are plenty of Satanic-like archetypes for Satanists to copy that express the trickster-type of rebel against tyrannical authority: Loki, Merlin, Coyote, Hermes, Prometheus, and of course Satan to name a few.  Nobody, media, Christians or Satanists know what to make of the Satanic Temple and Lucien Greaves, but that is the beauty of the trickster archetype, and I hope there will be more Satanists doing this sort of thing to paint a different picture of Satanism than the usual ignorant Christian propaganda.

Satanic marketing

Its Christmas and I am bombarded by Jesus-loving sales people marketing their brand of Jesus on the street, inviting me to their churches, embracing their version of Jesus and religion.  Should I feel annoyed by these people? only as much as a mosquito buzzing around my ear.  I am secure in my Satanism, built on a rock, and thus the white noise of religious sales people blend in with all the other junk selling toilet rolls and the latest Justin Bieber musical album.

I live in a consumer society where everything is for sale.  A huge marketing industry employs legions of experts to turn out the latest advertising designed through noise, glitter and a novel sales pitch to rise above the competition and capture the minds of the consumer masses.  None of these agents of marketing work for the benefit of the individual, like the prosperity Christian preachers they work to capture heart and mind in order to afford their big houses, expensive cars and other pleasures of wealth.  This is a dog-eat-dog world and the marketing people are the spiders spinning their webs to catch the mindless flies who will make the marketing agent and their clients wealthy.

Satanism is no different, there are those that market their brand of Satanism, who measure their Satanic success by the number of followers they convert to their cause, and hence potential cows to milk for personal benefit. There is no difference between those who peddle deluded ideas of sinister brotherhood of a gang or group and the charismatic televangelist who peddle their tribalism of a flock and church, the end result is a few benefiting from the naivety of the many.

Satanism is about the individual, anyone promoting group-minded ideals is a spider waiting for a juicy deluded fly.  If I have a Satanic musical album to promote to Satanists, I offer a clear benefit of entertainment in exchange for payment of money.  If I am a Satanic guru proclaiming my brand of Satanism where often there is no benefit to the individual, then it is likely a spider waiting for a fly.  Marketing is a spinning of a spider web, but beware what might hide behind the spider web.
