Leaders of the Greater Church of Lucifer issue open letter

Comment

Satanicviews plans to write posts on the issue of Left Hand Path as a religion and about LHP groups in the near future.  The Luciferians have in recent years attempted to formalize their philosophy through the vehicle of the Greater Church of Lucifer, their latest decisions and developments have been announced in their open letter as follows:

LETTER STARTS…

This is an open letter to the Luciferian, Left Hand Path, & Pagan Community,

Greetings,

We would first like to say that it has been an honor working with many of you over the past 2 years, during which we have seen not only the G.C.O.L community grow but, also the Left Hand Path & Pagan community as a whole.

Here are some of the great accomplishments that you all have helped us achieve over the past 2 years.

1. Greater Church of Lucifer has grown from an idea to launch a platform where Luciferian’s, Pagan’s, those just coming out of Monotheism or those walking on the Left Hand Path, new or experienced, could learn from one another, to an organization that has grown to include several U.S. state based chapters, a Canadian chapter, chapters in Spain, several chapters in South America and we currently have branches in every country in Central America .

2. We have laid the foundation of the Luciferian Doctrine, with the publishing of The Wisdom of Eosphorus.

3. We now have By-laws and an application process in which one can open a chapter in their own city, if none currently exist.

4. We have created a board of Directors (The Archon’s) and several other leadership positions that will help our organization grow and run smoothly.

5. We have made history by filing for tax exemption status as a Religious Organization. (Although, we are still going through the Federal process of filing our 501c3, which will take a little while longer before we are approved) This means Luciferianism is officially a religion and will soon be a recognized religion. This also means that all of your generous donations and future donations are tax exempt and may be claimed on your taxes.

6. We are also happy to announce that The Order of Phosphorus will be integrated into the GCOL, in order to give those that are interested in deep Luciferian study, as well as the Magickal Aspect of Luciferianism, an avenue to pursue their studies. (We will also be announcing another Order that will be integrated under the GCoL banner, in the near future)

7. On August 17, 2015 we signed the first lease in history for a Luciferian Church. A place that like minded people can meet, learn and study from one another. A place where we can revel in our similarities as well as our differences. A place where we share the knowledge and wisdom each of us have inside. A place where we do not have to hide or be afraid to share who we are and what we stand for, a place to meet like minded individuals, who share the similar values. A place we can all call a home.

Make no mistake, the signing of this first lease is a historical moment, not only for the GCoL, but for all those Pagan, Luciferian and Left Hand Path alike, and none of this could have happened without you, the GCoL Members. We are proud of our members and the strength and courage it takes to walk this path. We also know that change can only occur when people stand up and fight for their right to be individuals with opinions that are valued. No civilization throughout history began without individuals that were willing to take a stand for what they believe, with the follow through to make things happen. To make change in the face of adversity happen! These people were all Luciferian, whether they knew it or not.

Even though we have made all of these strides, we still have a long way to go. This is not the time to sit idle or sit on the fence with one foot on the other side. It will not be easy but then again, nothing worthwhile ever is, this is a time to stand together, to see the future of what can be, to support one another and push us into The New Luciferian Era.

Here are some things to consider:

1. We are going to have a GCoL opening weekend. This will occur on Oct. 30th-Nov. 1st. It will include the Building consecration ritual on Oct. 30th. The opening ceremony and 1st GCoL Meeting in the new building will occur on Oct. 31st followed by a luncheon and a festive night of activities at one of Houston’s premiere night clubs. On Nov. 1st we will have a discussion about our future and a closing activity. Allowing all those who travel from out of town the ability to leave by 12:30. (Michael W. Ford will be leading the self-Illumination Ceremony for all members that wish to participate in the ceremony during our first meeting. ** Please note that we would like to know in advance who would like to participate, so that we can make the appropriate preparations) More information about lodging and such will be released next week. Start making your preparations now, to attend this historic event as space will be limited.

2. Thanks to the wonderful donations you all have contributed to the GCoL, We were able to pay for the initial lease and many of the improvements necessary to make the building suitable for the esteemed current members as well as future members. We have also received donations of labor, décor, artwork etc. from many of the local members. A special thanks to Justin, Sabrina, Ivan, Michael, Jacob & Michelle for all your contributions. I can speak for myself when I say this has been a labor of love and am happy to have contributed.
However, we still need to raise money to finish furnishing the inside of the building. We are going to be having an auction to help raise these much needed funds. The auction will help pay for the following, a statue of Lucifer designed and cast just for the GCoL, New lighting fixtures, security system (to help avoid would be vandals) Area rugs, lighting and seating for back room, bookshelf for books to be studied in the back room, privacy window screens for the front of the building, furnishings for lobby area as well as the outdoors area in the back.
More information will come out about the auction within the next 2 weeks. The auction will include many items donated from prominent and influential people within the left hand path community. Many of these items will be one of a kind.

3. We still need to raise funds to build our own building. Our building donation fund is located on the GCoL web page.

4. If you would like to donate in other ways such as donated land or buildings that can only be used for the growth of the GCoL please contact any of the Archons via Facebook. Remember all donations are tax deductable and could save you quite a lot on your taxes.

Last but not least, the GCoL building is only the first of what we hope are many more buildings, here and around the world. I see people online and have talked to many on our path, about how they want to meet and discuss things with like minded individuals. Many feel alone and many didn’t know that there were so many of us out there until they found the GCoL. We are striving for a future, where we can build these much needed homes for everyone who has ever felt this way. We cannot fail if we come together as a community and family and support one another.

Again thank you all for your support and continued efforts in pushing us forward toward The New Luciferian Era.
~Sincerely, HopeMarie, Jacob, Michael, and Jeremy

A review of the new Lucifer series on Fox

The long anticipated pilot for the Lucifer series on the FOX media network has appeared online via putlocker.

The pilot has attracted highly favourable ratings despite opposition from Christians in some quarters, who object to the positive portrayal of Lucifer in the series.

Lucifer seems to follow a trend since Star Wars by American directors to give the “evil” characters a British accent played by English actors to give them style or contrast against the American-played characters.  This Lucifer would be perfect playing 007 in the James Bond movies.

The pilot so far produces a simple and tame narrative focused on building character and depth, which sets this series apart from other productions of the occult genre, which have focused too much on complexity, action, unbelievable storylines  and shallow characters.  The team behind Lucifer have put a lot of thought and effort into the pilot, which I hope continues in the rest of the series.

Lucifer Morningstar is the son of God, given responsibility for the department of Hell in the family business, the place where truthers are sent to be tormented by demons for all eternity.  Lucifer is a playboy, bored by his life of mediocrity in Hell, so descends to Earth to an exciting life in Los Angeles.  Lucifer is portrayed as a character of style, wit and charm.  Visibly he is the tall dark handsome wealthy gentleman that most women fall for, but with edge and a touch of arrogance.

Immortal and able to seduce most people to reveal their desires, Lucifer manifests a sensitive and caring side to his complex personality as a lady he has attachments is gunned down in an apparent random hit.  The incident motivates Lucifer to embark on a quest to deliver lex talionis to those behind the murder, resulting in him teaming up with a former porn star who is now a female detective in the Los Angeles Police Department.

Lucifer dislikes children, causing entertaining challenges in his encounters with the daughter of the LAPD detective. The LAPD detectives husband provides another source of rising conflict with Lucifer, who is unhappy with their connection to his wife and daughter.  In the pilot the angel Amenadiel, a character with an intense dislike of Lucifer, makes several appearances to persuade Lucifer to return to his appointed position in charge of Hell.  Lucifer has an existential crisis between his caring side and the evil role demanded of him by God, and books an appointment with a therapist.

In summary, this writer loved the pilot, with a strong Lucifer character, humour, and lots of potential character, role and situational conflicts.  The Lucifer series has enough potential themes and storylines to maintain viewer interest for at least three series.

Our position on Luciferianism

This blog has been asked to do a review on the Greater Church of Lucifer, and has readers who are involved in or are researching Luciferianism.  It seems a good opportunity to establish our position on Luciferianism.

Luciferianism is a branch of the Left Hand Path which shares many ideas and attitudes in common with the more common LHP branch of Satanism.  There are many opinions of if Luciferianism is another form of Satanism; if Satan is the same as Lucifer; if there are differences between Luciferians and Satanists, and what those differences would be.  Self-described Luciferians and Satanists do mix together in LHP websites and events; there are always the few that describe themselves as purists who prefer to oppose any mixing of their branch with the other.

Our position is that Luciferians and Satanists are two different branches of the Left Hand Path, sharing many ideas in common, but with subtle differences.  Our view is that Satanism focuses more on the practical aspects of the Left Hand Path in relation to the individual, whilst the Luciferian prefers to indulge in the philosophical questions of why they participate in the practical application of the Left Hand Path.  This blog is wary of applying the same criteria we would apply to Satanism to Luciferianism, therefore we will only comment on issues relating to Satanism, and will leave anything related to Luciferianism to Luciferians, who know their LHP branch better than we do.

It seems reasonable to refer readers who wish to know more about Luciferianism to the GCoL website, which includes the viewpoints of the leading lights of Luciferianism such as Michael Ford.

Satanism and animal sacrifice in Bolivia

The position of this blog relating to the following article is that the sacrifice of living things to Satan or any other entity confers no more advantage than eating a jam doughnut.  Blood sacrifice is an expression of ignorance, a quality that is unworthy in Satanism  – Satanicviews.

Where the Catholic Church is strong there is usually a strong focus on a form of Reverse Christianity where individuals take a Christian interpretation of the Satanism in their personal religion.  Whereas in the USA it is the atheistic interpretations of Satanism that dominate, in Latin America it is Reverse Christianity.

At a certain point in a road in Bolivia dozens of Satanists regularly gather to perform sacrifices of animals to “Uncle Lucifer”, a problem that has caused the local officials to consider passing laws to outlaw the sacrifice of animals by Satanists but still allowing the practice by indigenous people.

The animals are wrapped in cloth and made to drink alcohol, after which they are either stabbed, buried alive or strangled.  Three years ago police destroyed an alter to Lucifer after they allegedly found a human body close by.

Russian couple name baby Lucifer

Russian news media last October reports that a Satanist couple in Siberia in Russia have named their baby “Lucifer” much to the horror of the local Christian church.  After a complicated birth the couple named the child Lucifer despite the local registry office trying to convince them otherwise.

The local church called for the child to be taken into care and given to a Christian foster family, though in Russian law there is nothing to stop a parent naming their child Lucifer.

What is Satanism?

I have read the interview of Lucien Greaves of the Satanic Temple with Queerty which he says:

“Yeah, but I think there’s a value in doing it in the name of Satanism, too, because it forces people to reevaluate the arbitrary labels we sometimes put on things. I actually have a long background in studying witch hunts and the idea of Satanism and, in honesty, Satanism is just that: an idea.

When you go back to Old Testament times up to modern history, what we think we know about Satanism is always something manufactured by people more of the Westboro church camp than actual people practicing Satanism.”

I have also read many comments by Satanists on the beliefs and activities of Satanic Temple, who judge them based upon the world view of their own interpretation of what Satanism is to them.  This raises to me a question, what is Satanism? Nobody has the monopoly on truth, but it is good to build a belief upon authentic foundations.

The primary idea of Satanism is around devil worship, an idea clearly manufactured by Christians.  The modern idea of Satanism as per the Satanic Bible is a truth manufactured by one man, called Anton LaVey.  Joy of Satan defines Satan as a space alien, the defunct Cult of Cthulhu depicted Satan as a fictional character called Cthulhu from a fantasy book by H P Lovecraft. Satanic Temple is the latest in a long line of individuals and groups who add to Satan and Satanism their own interpretations.  Those of us who say Satanic Temple is not Satanism, do we hold a monopoly on truth? On what basis do we claim authenticity? on what LaVey claims, a bunch of Christians claim?

To claim authenticity then we Satanists need to go back to the original source of Satan, which is a Jewish book called the Book of Job.  In Job Satan is an angel who is employed by the Jewish god to test the Jews.  In the mind of the Jew they are the chosen people, the god they worship is a Jewish god, and Satan is employed by the Jewish god to test the Jewish people.  Satan is a Jewish word meaning “the opposer.”  In the mind of the Jew anything that opposes them is a test from their god, be it a foreign invasion, a famine or an earthquake.  Satan is employed by the Jewish god to keep the Jew on their toes, a type of watch dog to punish failures to follow the rules, and to ensure quality control through testing.  For this purpose the Satan in the Book of Job is given a degree of independence by his employer, but it is clearly obvious that Satan is an employee testing Jews under the direction of the Jewish god.

It is apparent in the time line that the Satan of the Book of Job, an angel employed by the Jewish god, is different from the serpent that tested Adam and Eve in the Book of Genesis, which happened earlier than the Book of Job,  The serpent which is attributed to Lucifer, and is potentially mentioned again in Book of Isaiah, is different to Satan in Book of Job.

If one is being authentic then it becomes a choice of going with Lucifer the serpent, in which case one heads down the road to Luciferianism, or one goes with Satan of the Book of Job, then rightfully can claim to be a Satanist.  There is however no wrong by claiming Satan is a space alien or a fictional fantasy book character, but with the understanding that it is a subjective interpretation without a claim on authority.  The only authoritative claim anyone has on Satan can only be the ones who originally introduced Satan to the world, which is the Book of Job.

Lets return again to what Satanic Temple has been doing, they have been having fun testing people’s claim of authority on the label of Satan and Satanism.  If you return to the original context of Satan in the Book of Job and the definition of the word for Satan “the opposer,” Satanic Temple is being more true to what Satanism is than those long-time Satanists that are being critical of Satanic Temple.  For the moment Satanic Temple is a marketing campaign, but it has the potential to become something more, and when I read their mission statement, tenets and beliefs, though the wording is sloppy and mistakenly mixes Lucifer with Satan, they are acting in the spirit of the Satan in the Book of Job.
