On turning midgets into giants

judge_hind

Pick your battles wisely in case you create a problem where you did not need to create one.  It is easy to turn a midget into a giant by giving them attention.

For many the internet has become the soap box of their own vanity, all looking for attention and influence from their social media accounts.  Some of these individuals such as Becki Percy (@becki_p20 on Twitter) and Sabine McNeill (Hampstead Satanic Ritual Abuse Hoax) are hurting people with their false allegation making, which is why I have devoted time, money and energy challenging them on the internet.

But, it is my opinion that each individual should pick their battles wisely, since for every giant that is worthy to challenge, there are a thousand midgets that can be ignored.  If the error is made to challenge a midget, there is a risk of turning the midget into a giant by giving them the attention they crave.  Such a midget is an individual called Thomas Dunn.

Thomas Dunn? you ask.  Exactly, he is a nobody, a midget on a soap box craving attention on the internet.  I choose Dunn as an example, because Hoaxtead who challenges false allegation makers is now turning this midget into a giant, because they give him vast amounts of attention out of all proportion to what he deserves.

Hoaxtead was originally created back in 2015 to challenge a large number of truthers I called Satan Hunters who made up allegations about a Satanic cult raping, killing and eating children in the schools and community of Hampstead London, a vindictive campaign of false allegation making that hurt both children and their families.  Hoaxtead became a well organised and successful machine that challenged and destroyed the Hampstead Hoax and its promoters, something I am proud to be a part of.  However, just as the Hampstead Hoax is dying and its promoters are now arrested, jailed and sectioned, Hoaxtead is seeking to evolve to justify its own existence, where I am sure there is a future role.  Hoaxtead is also evolving thanks to a recent new influx of activists, whilst some of their leading lights feel confident enough to reveal their true identities.

For the first time I personally disagree with Hoaxtead on their choice of challenging Thomas Dunn, which could do harm to the children and families of Hampstead by turning a midget into a giant, potentially reigniting the Hampstead Hoax.  Until a few days ago, Dunn was a nobody with 7000 followers on YouTube, an angry self-righteous and boring idiot who wasted hour-long videos saying nothing of substance at all, which few bothered to view.  Then, Dunn spotted a video of the Hampstead Hoax, jumped on the bandwagon with a declaration of a major campaign, supported with t-shirts, banners and other merchandise, that he was going to destroy Satanists and rescue the children of Hampstead London.

In a series of boring and vapid videos Dunn not only failed to offer any strategy of supporting the Hampstead Hoax, other than invites to buy his merchandise, he had no or weak connections to the existing promoters of the Hoax, and was ignorant even of the basics of what the Hoaxters were claiming happened in Hampstead.  All I saw was a bullshitter who was largely ignorant about the Hoax, had no strategy, following or offered any viable threat to anyone.

There is no justification that the well-oiled campaigning machine of Hoaxtead to jump onto Thomas Dunn to give him so much attention, turning a midget into a giant. It might be claimed that Dunn poses a threat to the children of Hampstead, but Hoaxtead has  created the threat where there was none at all to start with.  Whilst Dunn might give the new activists experience in challenging Satan Hunters, there are plenty of worthy targets such as Angela Power Disney, Belinda Mckenzie and Becki Percy worth challenging, individuals who are directly hurting people.

Hoaxtead has to remember that the reason it came to exist was to protect the children and people of Hampstead from false allegation making, and in the light of this, to ask if its current strategy of picking fights with a midget like Thomas Dunn is doing the very opposite that it intended to do.  Whilst I will be focussed on the false allegation maker Becki Percy, I will be taking time out with Hoaxtead for a while.

Artificial intelligence and the professional

ai

Artificial intelligence is an inappropriate and flawed tool when it comes to decision-making over people issues, such as if child should be taken from their family into protective custody.

It is likely that I and my business will contribute to the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), so I have a good idea about the limits and potential of this technology.  I wanted to touch on how AI should be a tool or assistant to a professional rather than replacing or undermining that individual.

It’s the great fashion in recent years that everyone gets into AI, which usually means either they have something that automates a system, or it is a pattern recognition tool that pulls conclusions out of big data fed to a network, which acts on the conclusion.  There is a lot of people in government, business and public services who have been sold a bag of poop that AI will save costs and provide a better service if it was used to replace people in the decision-making process in people-related situations.  For example, recruitment by big corporations is now increasingly being automated by AI, so that unless you know how to game the system, it will work against you, and people are reduced to the level of cattle in the corporate system.

There is an obsession with big data, which always has to be cleaned up by low paid humans in places like India to be useable in a pattern recognition system.  These pattern recognition systems such as neural networks operate according to hundreds and thousands of data points, building up through statistics a model upon which conclusions and decisions are made. These models and processes are so complex that not even the designers know how they come to their conclusions, what is called a black box situation.

These models are being used to make life changing decisions about people and their families, for instance if a child should be taken into care, or the appropriate penalty in a criminal conviction, or if someone should be liable for parole.  This impacts me too, I have today been to my first meeting with medical professionals, who consider I should have an autism assessment, but I also shared things like I suffered depression and had thought about suicide.  All I know, this information I shared is being fed into an AI system and it might spit out some conclusion that might lead to me being sectioned by the end of this week, all based on an AI data model rather than human decision-making.

If the reader has coded anything, they will learn that bad code and inputs result in bad outputs.  For example, if I dumped into an AI system voting intentions of a large sample of voters in Clacton UK, and used this to predict how the UK will vote in an overall general election, it might suggest UKIP would form the next government, but when the prediction is tested in real life, UKIP will if they are lucky only have control of the Clacton seat in Parliament. In a rising number of cases it has been discovered that the models built on big data are faulty, biased against certain groups, and are unable to handle unique situations.  People are forced to conform to a narrow set of categories to access services or be on the good side of a statistical artificial computer model that has no relation to reality.

It is a tragedy that for reasons of money, faith in a flawed technology, and a lack of trust of the wisdom and knowledge of human beings with decades of experience in their fields, the AI has replaced the human with tragic consequences for individuals and society.  Families wrongly suffer their children being taken into care, or being imprisoned because the computer judged according to its model this was the right outcome, and nobody can challenge the system data model, because nobody understands how it came to the conclusion.

This is never the way to go for AI, a great tool if used correctly, but totally inappropriate in people-focussed decision-making.  The AI is a useful tool or assistant where the human takes the lead, enhancing their decision-making, for instance in project management, not in decision-making when it comes to people.

The internet, fake news and the expert

internet

The internet is a double-edged sword as it makes information available to all, but drowns society in stupidity and fake news.

A friend of mine in London is a jewellery designer with many decades of experience.  My friend complains that the content he posts of his work on Facebook is drowned out by low quality rubbish produced by people who also like to call themselves jewellery designers, who attended a few classes and make their jewellery out of kits purchased at any craft shop.

The internet has been the great blessing that everyone has access to information, and everyone, expert and novice comes to the table on an equal footing.  The downside is that there is no filter on the quality of content where fake news often outcompetes truth, and nobody can tell the difference between the idiot and the expert.

The Guardian newspaper recently decided to close its blogging network to science experts, with one blogger complaining about his losing battle against fake news, which drowns out the voices of the scientist and expert.  I, like most of the world population, no longer trust the experts, these people have become discredited because they lost touch with the real concerns of ordinary people, and they manipulated people too often.

It has long been the mantra of experts that climate change is caused by humans, and it is due to fossil fuels.  Anyone who suggested any different was treated as a heretic, persecuted and had their lives ruined; ordinary people were treated as if they were stupid; and politicians who challenged the official line were accused of being extremist loonies.

In truth, the experts ignored the historical record that climate change moves between extremes in cycles throughout history; that a few metre rise in sea level in the modern-day is nothing compared to dozens metre rise a year a few thousand years ago; or that this could be a natural rather than human influenced change in climate.

The experts conveniently allow developed nations to cheat or ignore controls on their fossil fuels whilst forcing the poor of third world nations to suffer by making them abide with controls on burning fossil fuels, and to pay for expensive renewable energy sources such as dams through loans such nations could not sustainably afford.

The experts chose to entertain a conspiracy of silence that the main contributor of greenhouse gasses was from meat, dairy and poultry farming.

Rather than a global initiative to plant trees to remove carbon from the atmosphere, the experts suggested expensive schemes to manipulate weather patterns and reduce sunlight to the planet, no doubt paid for by denying the vulnerable and the poor resources by diverting public funds to such unworkable schemes.

Whilst the internet has dented the impact of the expert, the liberated access to information has had zero impact on stupidity, so barbarian-minded idiots have a greater platform than the expert to promote dishonesty and fantasy such as flat earth conspiracies, unlimited energy devices (once known as perpetual motion engines) and illuminati fictions.  Dishonesty and fake news is the new normal, where even US President Donald Trump regularly lies, and is validated and weakly challenged for doing so.

The future is dire, for not only is humanity polluting the land, air and water, but now body, mind and society with dishonesty, delusion and fantasy.  Like that blogger who complained about fake news, I recognise that truth is no longer held in regard by society, where most people prefer to hear fictions that please their mind and ear.  The new hero is the frauds like Donald Trump or Elon Musk, whose dishonesty has become so natural to them that they have forgotten what truth is, and will relentlessly persecute those who dare to say different.

On Localism and the Satanic Temple

satanic_temple

Decentralisation of decision-making to the local level will make the Satanic Temple stronger.

I believe that power is best achieved at the local level, thus I oppose globalism and centralisation of power, instead, I support localism and the decentralisation of power.  I support Brexit, Scottish independence, the Basque and Catalonia independence movements, as well as those who support devolution in Wessex, Cornwall, Yorkshire, Scotland and Wales in the UK.  I am opposed to globalist entities such as UN, NATO, IMF and the EU.  As a historian, I am aware and support the ideal of small nations and city states, which was once the common reality of Europe such as the former city states of Venice and Athens.

In nature, ant and bee colonies work perfectly well in a system lacking centralised command and control.  Systems work best in nature when they exist in a state of partial chaos and order, which complexity theory calls the edge of chaos.  When the power in a system is controlled and maintained at the centre, it creates too much order that interferes with the healthy ability of systems to stay in the edge of chaos, since there needs to be an element of disorder to create motion, change and evolution in systems.

In the Left Hand Path, one of the reasons that the Satanic Temple has expanded so quickly and had an impact in many parts of the USA and the world was because of its chapter system, which allowed members to quickly organise campaigns at the local level, plan and then execute them.  For reasons that I totally understand, the Satanic Temple leadership still desired to have tight control through regulations of all its global chapters from its headquarters in Salem USA, where members of chapters had to first seek permission from the leadership before they could execute their campaigns.

With the Satanic Temple expanding rapidly on a global scale in its number of members and chapters, all with their own unique cultural and local needs, the leadership has become overwhelmed by competing demands, where there is differences of opinion over decision-making and frustration at the challenges faced of executing campaigns at the local level because of the burden faced from having to go through the centre for permission and abiding by its regulations.

I totally understand the motives of why the Satanic Temple leadership desires control from the centre, because Satanic Temple has built up a successful global brand, which would be vulnerable for instance: if a chapter decided it was going to worship Satan; or a school club it was running allowed a paedophile to abuse kids because of poor child protection policies; or, as in one case, a spokesperson called for the assassination of President Trump.

Because of this command-control from the centre, Satanic Temple has avoided scandals and has suffered no damage to its brand.  However, some chapters of the Satanic Temple have split from the Satanic Temple, including some in Europe and the one in Los Angeles USA.

In my humble opinion, the recent problems with the chapters in the Satanic Temple could be addressed by a middle-way strategy, the decentralisation of power to the local level, so that chapters could plan and execute their campaigns without the need for permission from the centre.  However, the brand should have been legally protected as intellectual property on a global scale with trade marks, and the business model based upon a contract that if a local chapter wanted to be recognised as part of the official brand, and local officers as representatives of the brand, that they had to abide by the contract as like a franchise, or be no longer recognised, nor could they use the brand in their activities, such as the name “Satanic Temple.”  The TED and TEDx brand has a model that could be emulated.

Had there been an understanding that campaigns were clearly identified as local chapter campaigns, such as the legal case against Twitter over how they treated Satanic Temple and its leading representative Lucien Greaves, this being a local Salem campaign, then in a decentralised structure local chapters and members could decide if they wanted to support the campaigns of another local chapter without the disharmony which is currently happening of whole chapters splitting away.

Personally, I am not a member of any chapter of Satanic Temple, nor do I speak for or against Satanic Temple.  I am an associate of the Grey Faction, a specialised alliance of those who challenge Satanic Ritual Abuse fictions.  I decided not to affiliate with London Chapter of Satanic Temple for the reason that I did not want to become involved in the politics that arise in groups, nor to suffer the restrictions on my blogging and activities that official membership of a chapter would cause me.

In conclusion, I speak from a point of view as a historian and from a scientific understanding of complexity theory, that what is happening in Satanic Temple is avoidable and is an error that I have seen countless times in history.  Satanic Temple has suffered chapters breaking away in the past, and it will continue to grow and evolve.  I think the Satanic Temple brand needs to be legally protected, and that the decision-making processes could be reviewed and changed to avoid more disharmony in this growing movement.

North Korea: start of WW3?

Gary Markstein / Cagle Cartoons

Is it me that lives in La La land, or everyone else? As the North Korea crisis escalates, most of the population, the media and politicians go about life as if nothing is happening.  Yet, I am watching developments in North Korea, I am worried, even if nobody else cares.

North Korea has played the strategy of threats, noise and exaggeration before, they are the master of the art of propaganda on a vast scale.  However, unlike previous occasions that leaders humoured the North Koreans with concessions, so they can march away from the table claiming a great victory, until the next “crisis”, now North Korea deals with Trump, who does not compromise, is motivated to military action, won’t give ground.  This time the North Koreans find themselves in a corner, if they back down, they lose face, so they escalate their strategy, and so does Trump.

Now Trump has moved three carrier strike groups against North Korea, the top assassination team that took out Bin Ladin, state-of-the-art submarines, fighter jets, B52’s and anything else he can move to the table that is the latest technology and new.  Trump is not bothering with negotiating with the North Koreans, he seems keen for a fight.

Trump does not understand North Korea, or China, or the rules of how this crisis can be resolved, he plays his own game by his own rules.  Trump thinks perhaps a little war with North Korea might take domestic pressure off himself, win himself support from the voters.  Trump is blind to the horror that he is creating for himself and this world.

North Korea would rather go to war than lose face, Trump wants a war, and so a war is likely.  It can take weeks before USA and its allies can muster enough forces to deal with North Korea in event of war, but war can move fast, a million North Koreans can move into South Korea inside a day. North Korea can kill a million South Koreans in one day with its massed artillery.  North Korea can immediately deploy atomic, biological and chemical weapons against USA and its allies.  North Korea can immediately put into the field millions of blindly loyal and well-trained soldiers, who will slaughter everyone, and destroy everything in their path.

USA will face having to fight North Korea in South Korean cities, towns, villages and countryside.  By the time the North is defeated in the South, there will be nothing left of South Korea.  The fight against North Korea won’t be like Syria, Iraq and Libya with steady safe airstrikes with their pretty visuals to impress dumb reporters and consumers, it will be brutal, urgent hand-to-hand fighting, with USA and their allies taking casualties running into tens of thousands.  Sensitive public who dislikes a few dozen dead American soldiers, won’t like the scale of deaths that will rapidly mount up.

North Korea has amongst the best hackers in the world, so all internet communications will become destroyed or disrupted.  North Korean agents can deploy biological weapons into cities such as anthrax and smallpox.  An atomic bomb could be exploded over the USA in the atmosphere wiping out all electronics and electricity grid.  The US carrier groups could be instantly destroyed by nuclear weapons.  North Korea is ruthless and prepared to destroy themselves and the entire world in a war.

North Korea is trolling Trump and the USA in the hope they strike first or gives them concessions.  If USA strikes first, China enters the war on the side of North Korea.  China shares a border with North Korea and their military will enter into North Korea to defend it against any attack from USA and its allies.  USA and thus allies such as UK will be forced to declare war on China.  A number of nations in Africa, Middle East and South America will ally with North Korea and China.  Russia will support China and North Korea.

Economically the world is fragile, a war of the scale of North Korea will cause a collapse in all money markets.  Imagine disrupted food and fuel supplies, collapsed communications, mass civil disorder.  A few exploded nuclear bombs can poison atmosphere, land and water, and disrupt the climate.

The leading headlines in the media now: JFK files and sexual harassment by various public figures.  Meanwhile, most people proceed with their mundane lives indifferent and ignorant to events playing out that could destroy the human race.

The global terminal cancer of hubris

hubris

Hubris is the slayer of king and empire.

The rapid spread of hubristic stupidity like a horrible cancer across all levels of this globe fills me with dread for what the future will hold. Examples…

Catalan referendum

Regardless of the for or against arguments for separation from a nation state, a people in a democracy have a right to debate and vote upon their aspirations, but the government of Spain denies those people the right of referendum on Catalonia. Spain prefers to send in the police to crush the vote, turning off the internet, confiscating ballot boxes, firing rubber bullets at the voters leaving hundreds injured. Perhaps the Spanish government will stop this referendum, but their hubristic action as history shows will now strengthen the desire of a region to have their voice and leave Spain.

Trees in Sheffield

The Sheffield City Council outsourced maintenance of the city trees to international corporation Amey. With profit in mind the council and Amey have cut down thousands of healthy trees, using police, the courts and security guards to crush any local opposition. In a time when climate change is evidently a cause of serious concern, the cutting down trees and denying local people any say in their own community desire to keep those trees, goes against reason. Trees are a primary tool to pull carbon out of the atmosphere, and they take over a hundred years to grow. On all levels trees offer benefits to a healthy community, be it against flooding, offering quality oxygen, to giving shelter from rain and sun.

Trump and Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a territory of the USA, a large part of the population are homeless, without electricity or clean water, taking many months to restore. The population and their leaders quite rightly complain that Trump has failed to address their need in an effective manner, and the Trump response is to attack them rather than listen to their needs.

Google censorship

Whilst I recognise Google is a business and has a priority to address advertiser needs, the level of their censorship is apparently extreme. Google has gone so far as removed content they deem no longer advertiser friendly from their search engine listings, which now includes non-offensive videos from my friend Jeremy Crow on LHP philosophy. Google faces the possibility that if it cuts too much away from the bone, it will have nothing left worth linking advertising to, including driving away the potential users who would read that advertising.

Prime minister May and young people

The UK Prime minister May seeks to bribe young people into supporting her by restoring grants, eliminating or reducing tuition fees, and dealing with existing student debt. However, firstly young people are not so gullible, nor does a bland robot like May have much pulling power over Corbyn when it comes to youthful loyalties. Nor does it make economic sense to undo the present tuition fee position, since there is no money to pay for all this.

Conclusion

Hubristic stupidity has always existed, but at this moment, it has become too common and too widespread. With hubris comes disaster, and globally the situation looks dire.

On so-called censorship by Google

crybabyona

Those that play the victim card over Google censorship or being fired ignore that this is a business designed for profit, not altruism or charity.

Google is a business, its principle income comes from advertisers.  Google is no charity, nor is it altruistic, people host or link their content with Google “free” on the basis that Google can use it and make money from it via advertising.  Like all businesses Google has a reputation and a profit to maintain, and reacts if advertisers or governments threaten to take actions that impacts its business.  Those that post fake news, or abuse the system, which ultimately impacts the Google business should be unsurprised that they are getting their content impacted by Google services.

Earlier this year a Satan Hunter who had a large following on his YouTube channel made hundreds of dollars of profit from advertising by posting fictions, images and personal details of abused children in Hampstead London.  This was one of the individuals who saw his monthly healthy revenue collapse to zero on his YouTube channel as a result of changes in Google advertising strategies.

Those making the most noise are people with opinions on different sides of the political spectrum who suddenly lost their income from advertising.  If I was an advertiser, I would be reluctant to have my brand associated with any political, religious or social tribal content.  It makes sense to reward and associate advertising with useful content that benefits people such as gardening or how to run a successful business.  Every person and their dog has an opinion, and most opinion is low quality, hateful crap that the internet drowns in.

In my view Google is moving in the right direction of working on quality content and eliminating the junk.

Those that play the victim card because they were fired from an entity funded by Google who they viciously criticised, reality-check, its business, this is how it works.  How dumb to expect the one that feeds them to continue to support them when they are punching it in the face.

I am highly hostile to Google, but I am even more hostile towards those pitiful self-entitled creatures playing their victim card over censorship and being fired by a business that they think must be altruistic and supportive of their worthless opinions.
