Let the stupid destroy themselves

There has been a recent reblogging by LHPers of this article calling for people of the LHP to save the world.  I laughed.

One of my colleagues on Twitter, Joseph Magnuson of Candlesmoke Chapel, made a few tweets over the past few hours that struck a nerve with me describing a general reluctance for magicians and spiritually-minded people to get involved with politics, legal affairs, and current events…

…They see it as beneath them, considering the news to be “a set up to keep us from manifesting the best reality for us”, and that “spiritual people know better than to get caught up in the illusions”…

…It’s your duty to do your part either as part of the system or as an infiltrator into it…

I read the news, but I do nothing. The news follows the pattern, stupid people do stupid things, repeat. All the problems of this world is because stupid people do stupid things. Stupidity is terminal, stupid people are doomed to their own destruction. As the stupid are the majority, human civilization is doomed to destruction.

I have better things to do than play at being superman, saving the stupid from themselves. It is pointless and merely prolongs the inevitable of the doom that the stupid will earn and deserve.

Ignoring the news, doing nothing about the causes and results of the stupid, is from a Satanic point of view, a realistic and pragmatic position. Even for those of a spiritual point of view, most must know that all things will find its own level, better the Taoist position to stay detached, allowing everything to flow to its own natural conclusion. There are good arguments that many of the problems of human civilization are due to people trying to control and interfere.

As a Satanist, my efforts are dedicated to survival and supporting those who have earned my respect; my view on the stupid who make up the majority of humanity, let them die.

  1. I was told a tantric saying many years ago which went: “don’t try to change the world, just make sure it doesn’t change you” – in other words focus on being true to yourself and following your own course, and don’t get side tracked with struggling to alter how the world is, and forget who you are. By all means, if there is something about your world that you can change to please you better, do it, or contribute to what you want, you always have that choice, but it’s down to what suits you, and no duty involved

  2. I feel that influencing a better world need not involve trying to save the stupid from themselves, but I can see why Satanists and other LHP practitioners would be uninterested in politics, the law, and current events. They might see it as a dishonest attempt at a power play by someone seeking to impose his/her will. Remember when we talked about unity some months back?

I’m with Credencedawg when he says the focus should be on remaining true to yourself, which is would many people changing the world or people in “power” may tend to lose sight of, ignore, or not even think of entirely. In the end, it’s ultimately better that we create our own world, for ourselves.

  3. I think that by the time we develop to the point where we each go our own way, we already know trying to change the world is an exercise in futility, and it doesn’t do the stupid people any good either, since they have to learn the same lessons we all learned in the past.

George Carlin (American comedian) said something to the effect “When you’re born here, you’re given a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you’re given a front row seat”. Enjoy the freak show. It’s better for the blood pressure.

  5. You can Lead a Horse to water……No one can save the stupid, all we can do is give them the Knowledge to work the Black Flame for themselves, and if they piss it away, more fool they. The World only changes when you change yourself, that cape those fools put on is quite heavy and makes it hard to move…Horns up my friend, good post.

  6. Apathy also plays a large part in a number of problems around the world. Combine it with stupidity and you have a lethal combination. The public don’t care about most things until they’re caught up in it and then squeal for action (carried out by someone else).

    • Apathy can be a symptom of the individual’s experience that that they cannot make a difference, or that the object is not worth becoming involved in. It is a common pattern that the lazy love to get others to do the work for them.
